Archal chair series was designed by the Danish duo Johannes Foersom & Peter Hiort Lorenzen. Here Peter tells a few sentences about their work.

The choice of material and the design work, including construction and shaping, form the basis of making Archal a sophisticated architecture.
The story about Archal chair developed from scratch:
The idea was to work with the archetype of the chair; basically perceived as four legs and a seat-and-back-piece formed into an angle. This is the universal sign of a chair, which is very easy to understand.
We wanted to simplify the structure of the chair as much as possible. Therefore we needed a material from which we could attain a frame with a precise expression.
It was through casting homogenous side-units for the legs of the chair, and making the base of the swivel chair in precise profiles with very smooth joints, that we were able to simplify the expression of the chair to a very easily perceivable sign.
This technique makes Archal the type of chair that is designed for modern as well as classical architecture. To achieve a good seating comfort the seat and back are shaped after the body and then placed between the angular side profiles.
The Archal chairs are produced in casted recycled aluminum. This is a casting technology where you can achieve strong constructions with a very smooth surface. The casting is made in Sweden as well as the robot polishing of the frames. Archal is offered with a thin wooden seat shell moulded into shape and also offered in several different high-quality upholstered versions.
